Since 2020, Hiroto Asakawa is Chief Senior Consultant at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Research Institute where he conducts research and consulting related to PPP and infrastructure investment in Japan. Prior to his current role, he belonged to Mitsui & Co. Ltd since 1997 where he managed various infrastructure fund business and project financing globally. Hiroto currently contributes articles related to investments in smart city, renewable energy and battery energy storage. He earned MBA (Finance) from Waseda University and Master of Science in Development Finance from University of London (SOAS).

Mr. Endo joined Tokio Marine Asset Management (TMAM) in 2017. His responsibilities include investment analysis, due diligence, investment monitoring, performance analysis, client reporting, and client servicing.
Prior to joining TMAM, he worked as a Senior Director at A-FIVE, a venture capital sponsored by Japanese government focusing on startups in food and agribusiness sectors, before spending seventeen years in Mizuho Bank, where he took various positions from Corporate Advisory to PE Investment, but spent most of his career in LBO Finance both in Tokyo and NY. He received a BA in law from Waseda University and a MBA from MIT Sloan School of Management.

Yuki Hanyu was conferred Ph.D(Chemistry) by University of Oxford in 2010. In October 2015, he founded Integriculture Co.,Ltd., after PD researcher, Tohoku University and Technical Laboratory of Toshiba Research & Development Center.
Sumika is a Senior Manager with KPMG Japan’s Sustainable Value Office, where she engages in many research projects and the development of thought leadership pieces regarding corporate reporting and corporate governance for more than ten years. She has also advised Japanese companies on their integrated reporting. Sumika has been seconded to Asian Corporate Governance Association on a part-time basis since 2018.
Horie is Co-founder and CEO of CSR Design Green Investment Advisory, Co., Ltd., which focuses on ESG advisory in the real estate and infrastructure sectors as well as research on green buildings and sustainable finance. He graduated from University of Tokyo and holds an MBA degree from the University of California at Berkeley. Horie served as a member of global Advisory Group of UNEP FI Property Working Group, and currently, he is a member of global Real Estate Advisory Committee of PRI. Horie has also participated in many governmental committees on ESG organized by Japanese MLIT and other ministries as a member or chairperson.
Masanori Hosokawa is General Manager, Responsible Investment Office at Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company. He started his career from 1990 by joining Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company (former Meiji Life Insurance Company), he worked in various internal business departments and some international business organizations such as Societe Generale (France), Embassy of Japan in Hungary. He is a qualified Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan and a Certified International Investment Analyst.
In March 2019, the Financial Services Agency of Japan (JFSA) decided to create the position of Chief Sustainable Finance Officer (CSFO), to plan and coordinate on promotion of sustainable finance internally and globally. Upon its creation Satoshi Ikeda was appointed, and has been serving, as the first CSFO. In this capacity, he covers a wide range of issues concerning sustainable finance which include, among other things, aligning private finance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), promoting TCFD disclosures by business corporations and financial institutions alike, and representing JFSA for the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFA) as plenary member.
Joined Nomura in 2018 and has been responsible for strategic planning for alternative investment business and marketing. Currently engaged in promotion of Japan private equity and venture capital investing, and planning and implementing ESG integration in Nomura's alternative investments. He started his alternative investment career in 1992 when he joined Japan Asia Investment Co., Ltd. (JAIC) as a venture capitalist. His responsibilities at JAIC included fund planning and setup, investment management, client reporting, and management of its Singapore and Thailand local operations. Subsequently he joined Nikko Cordial Securities (now called SMBC Nikko Securities), where he took charge of intermediary business on alternative investment funds, before moving to Nomura. He graduated from Waseda University (Japan), BA in Commerce.
Tsutomu Ishida is a Deputy General Manager of Alternative Investment Group. He took this position in April 2015 and has been responsible for managing alternative investment which includes investment in private equity fund, hedge fund, debt fund and real estate fund. Prior to that, he worked in the Guarantee & Credit Insurance Group, Investment Group III between July 2009 and March 2015, and was responsible for managing reinsurance portfolio that TMNF reinsured also the placement of the credit and guarantee insurance that TMNF originated. Mr. Ishida worked for Financial Security Assurance, an US monoline insurance company, between 2001 and 2009. During that period, he was responsible for structuring and underwriting structured finance transactions such as ABS and CDO. He began his career at Fuji Bank (currently named as Mizuho Bank after the merger) in 1988 and namely experienced in arranging and underwriting project finance transactions and corporate syndicated loans.
Mr. Ishida holds a BA degree from Keio University and an MBA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Oh Iwata is now in charge of investing in real estate fund overseas in Real Estate Finance Department. He is also engaged in running DBJ Green Building Program as well as Arc Japan (Arc is a global platform to measure and benchmark energy performance of properties). Previously he served DBJ’s Treasury Department to develop DBJ’s sustainability bond program and communicate with investors for bond issuances. His corporate finance experiences ranges from corporate mezzanine investments to lending to an automobile industry. He received B.Sc. in Geography from The University of Tokyo, M.Sc. in Resource Management and Environmental Studies from The University of British Columbia, and Master of Finance from Cambridge Judge Business School.
Kunio Kamoi is Senior Product manager of Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corporation (MUTB) where he is responsible for selecting and monitoring Private Assets globally, such as Private Equity and Private Debt, as an advisor and a gatekeeper to corporate pension funds and institutional investors in Japan. He also leads and manages distinctive Fund of Funds primarily focusing on Private Equity area, drawing on his experience from his long-time career and leveraging a strong relationship with fund managers and related advisors. Prior to joining MUTB in 2021, he worked at The Bank of Yokohama for over 20 years in Japan and New York where he was engaged in various banking and securities businesses, including principal investments and pension investments in Private Assets. He has been involved in setting up an investment framework and platform, investing in single funds and managing a portfolio construction extensively across Private Equity, Private Debt and Real Assets including Infrastructure. He received Bachelor’s Degree of Economics from Yokohama National University.
Yasu is a Managing Director and devotes his time exclusively to marketing AlpInvest products in Japan. Yasu is employed by Carlyle Japan Equity Management LLC (“CJEM”), an affiliate of The Carlyle Group. He joined Carlyle from McKinsey and Company, where he was an engagement manager. Prior to that Yasu worked at Tokio Marine Asset Management for nearly 10 years, firstly as the head of research of their US entity covering Japanese institutional investors for their alternative investments and thereafter as the CEO of their London entity. He has also worked at AIFAM Inc, a hedge fund of funds based in New York and Mizuho Financial Group (International business development). Yasu received his MBA from the Wharton School, the University of Pennsylvania and Bachelor of Economics from the University of Tokyo.
Masashi Kataoka is General Manager of Alternative Investment Department at Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company. Prior to his current role, he had led various teams; hedge fund investment, PE fund investment, infrastructure fund investment, venture fund and direct investment team. He worked 4 years until 2014 at Dai-ichi Life’s NY office and led the manager selection / due diligence practice as well as strategic activities with US asset managers. Since joining Dai-ichi Life in 1997, he has about 20-year-experience in investment related sections including Investment Planning Department where he engaged in the asset allocation of entire Dai-ichi Life’s general account asset. He also has an experience working at an US based hedge fund as a trainee in 2007. He earned Bachelor of Economics in Keio University.
Junko Katayanagi joined Unison Capital in 2006. Prior to Unison Capital, she worked at the Investment Banking Division of Morgan Stanley Japan, where she was involved in corporate finance and M&A advisory. Junko holds a B.A. in Political Science from Waseda University and an MBA. from IESE Business School.
Shuichiro originally joined the Industrial Bank of Japan in 1989 and started covering the power and energy sectors in 1996 as an analyst in the Industry Research Division. In 2000, Shuichiro moved to IBJ Securities (now known as Mizuho Securities), where he ran corporate finance operations for companies in the energy sector. In 2003, he found and served as CEO at Industrial Decisions Inc. (IDI), Japan’s first consulting firm dedicated to the energy industry. After his experience at IDI, he became keenly aware of the need for more risk capital as well as management support for startups in the energy and environment sectors, and he found Energy & Environment Investment Inc. (EEI) in 2006. The total investment amount of EEI is about 35 billion yen (including redemption and EXIT), and the number of investments is about 135 (as of the end of December 2021). Shuichiro holds a degree in law from the University of Tokyo and an MPA from the Woodrow Wilson School at Princeton University.
Tomoko is a Managing Director, Japan Representative in Hamilton Lane, where she heads the firm’s Tokyo office. She is primarily responsible for client management and development of the firm’s client relationships in Japan. Prior to joining Hamilton Lane in 2012, Tomoko was with the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, most recently as Chief Manager in the International Credit Division. Previously, she was Senior Manager in the Structured Finance Division, where she was responsible for managing a portfolio of global private equity fund investments. She also has extensive experience in the Credit Division, having worked out of the bank’s New York and London offices. Tomoko received a B.A. from International Christian University. She is a Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of the CFA Institute and CFA Society Japan.

Kazushige has approx. 30 years’ experience in private equity (PE) business. Kazushige is handling a couple of PE related business in parallel, including running a fund of funds program of Tokyo Metropolitan Government at MCP Asset Management and advisory roles as an independent consultant for global GPs.
Until 2020, he was Managing Director – Head of Primary Investments at Capital Dynamics (CD), a global private asset management company. He oversaw CD’s PE investments in Asia and also served as a member of Global PE Investment Committee and Executive Committee.
Prior to joining CD in 2010, he was President and CEO of Alternative Investment Capital (AIC), a private equity advisory firm in Tokyo. He joined AIC when it was established in 2002 and has grown AIC as globally recognized PE investor. Before AIC, he worked for Mitsubishi Corporation and handled various types of PE related business in Tokyo and London.
In addition, he is a board member of Social Investment Partners, the manager of Japan Venture Philanthropy Fund (JVPF), the first venture philanthropy fund in Japan.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hitotsubashi University.
Mari is an impact investing expert with extensive background in inclusive business, sustainable finance, and social entrepreneurship. Most recently, Mari founded the SDG Impact Japan to promote sustainable finance in Japan and Asia and serve as CoCEO. Before the SDG Impact Japan, She was the global head of diversity and human rights of the Fastretailing Group. Before FR, she led the establishment of the Asia Women Impact Fund, USD 100 million Impact Fund at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation, with the objective to catalyze capital to improve the lives of women and remove gender barriers in Asia. Mari held various senior positions at the World Bank Group in Washington DC and Tokyo including the representative of the MIGA Tokyo. She also served as the Representative of Dalberg Japan. She currently serves as an expert advisor on JICA’s Overseas Investment Review Committee. W20 Japan delegate, and as an ESG board advisor to several Japanese corporations. Mari holds a BA in Economics from Tokyo University and an MA from the Fletcher School, Tufts University.
After graduating from university, I worked for a major Japanese general trading company and obtained a master’s degree in international development from a graduate school in the United States. While in graduate school, I participated in an internship at the Pakistan office of an impact investment fund. After returning to Japan in 2011, I joined The Nippon Foundation, where I worked on various projects including the Japan Venture Philanthropy Fund, Social Impact Bond Project, and GSG Domestic Advisory Committee. In April 2017, I established the Foundation as a spin-out from the Nippon Foundation and became its Executive Director, leading the planning and promotion of impact investing in general.
At Marubeni Corporation, engaged mainly in the development and implementation of power, water and infrastructure projects, and strategic planning for over 30 years. He has been stationed in Southeast Asia and Middle East Africa for about 12 years. He has served as General Manager of COO Office, Power Business Division, General Manager of IOT & New Energy Digital Solution Business Department, General Manager of Power Digital Solution Business Department, Director of Renewable Energy Test Center in the US, and others. He participated in the Gunfleet Sand project in the UK for the offshore wind business as First Japanese. He promotes alliances with US GE, France Engie, etc. in the power digital field. Engaged in general management assistance for the solar power business as a senior executive vice president (SEVP) at afterFIT Co., Ltd.. Participated in November 2020 with the establishment of Envision Digital Japan. He has been in his current position since April 2021.

Toshinori Kurisu is the Head of ESG Investment Strategy Office of Nippon Life Insurance Company. Toshinori joined Nippon Life in 1999. Toshinori was assigned to lead the newly established ESG Investment Strategy Office in March 2021, when the Office was newly established in order to promote the ESG effort across the organization. Prior to this, Toshinori was in charge of tactical asset allocation of Nippon Life's entire General Account portfolio with AUM of approximately JPY 70 trillion. Toshinori has over nine years of experience as portfolio manager of Alternative assets, including high yield funds, private equity funds, hedge funds and international real estate funds.
Hiroshi Matsui is General Manager of the Alternative Funds Investment Department at Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank. He joined Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank in 1989, and since 2005, responsible for managing and acting as “Gatekeeper” of infrastructure investments for its pension fund clients. He has more than 30 years of investing management experience through various departments , including Japanese Equities, Pension Investment and Investment Planning etc. He holds a B.A. in Economics from Kwansei Gakuin University.
Kathy is the former Vice Chair of Goldman Sachs Japan and Chief Japan Equity Strategist. Her groundbreaking ʻWomenomicsʼ research spurred the Japanese government to promote gender diversity, and she has advised corporations on governance and diversity best practices. She published her book, How to Nurture Female Employees, in 2020. She has an MA from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and an AB from Harvard.

Chikako Matsumoto, Executive Officer, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank Limited. Chikako is responsible for the development of ESG-related products and services for corporate clients and the promotion of ESG business across the SMTB. She has 20-year experiences in international development finance and sustainability at the World Bank and the Inter-American Development Bank, being involved in the development of the World Bank’s first green bond and climate finance products. Before joining the SMTB, she led advisory services at EY on climate scenario analysis and mainstreaming ESG in corporate management. She was awarded with master’s degrees from Harvard Kennedy School and Hitotsubashi University.
Heather Prosser is a Director at EY Japan focused on the global business development for one of Japan’s biggest Insurance companies. She connects and empowers the global EY team to bring the best EY services to the client their group companies. Heather started her career in EY Japan by helping to build the Climate Change and Sustainability Services (CCaSS) practice in 2015 and was involved in the overall management, development and market impact of this business. With clients Heather focused how institutional investors are pushing companies for better disclosure and reporting on non-financial risks. She brought her experience in Investor Relations to the topic of sustainability to better merge business and stakeholder interests and create practical solutions for companies. In CCaSS Heather built a business service which focuses on helping Japanese companies understand and mitigate their Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) risks.
Prior to working with EY in Japan she worked in business development for financial services and real estate focused firms in Asia, living in both Hong Kong and Tokyo. Heather has experience doing projects in Japan, Hong Kong, Australia, Vietnam, and Singapore. Heather is American and began her career in venture capital in Silicon Valley. In early 2001 she moved to Japan and has been focused on building, launching and expanding small businesses.
Heather has over 15 years of combined experience in the financial services industry in Asia, including advisory, strategy, operations, business development, fund raising and investor relations. She serves as a Board of Governor for the American chamber of Commerce, Japan (ACCJ) as well as the ACCJ Sustainability Chair (2021). Additionally she is an Executive Committee member with the British Chamber of Commerce (BCCJ) since 2018. Heather also volunteers as a board member for ShineOn! Kids, a Japan-based charity focused on supporting children with long term illnesses, and has been a regular guest presenter on NHK’s Cool Japan since 2007.
Yuko is responsible to lead the bank’s sustainable finance business since February 2020 when she established the Sustainable Impact Development Division as a General Manager. Prior to her current role, she has many years of experience in risk management of structured products including LBO finance, Project Finance, Ship Finance and LP investment. She started her career with The Bank of Tokyo (current MUFG Bank). Before joining Shinsei in 2004, she worked as a credit analyst at Banca Intesa (current Banca Intesa Sanpaolo) and Credit Lyonnais (current Credit Agricole) as well as marketing analyst of venture leasing at HP. She received a BA in law from Waseda University and an MBA from Aoyama Gakuin University, Graduate School of International Politics, Economics and Communication.
Mitsuharu Nakatsu is a Director at Mitsui & Co. Alternative Investments Limited, with over 15 years of experience in alternative assets. He started his career at Mizuho Trust & Banking Co., Ltd.’s Asset Management and Business R&D department. He was involved in fixed income investment and development of alternative investment products such as hedge funds, quants funds, private equity funds, infrastructure funds, etc. He joined a domestic infrastructure fund in 2017, was involved in investments in power plants and PPS(Power Producer and Supplier). Also he represented the fund on the board of directors of its project companies and lead value creation through hands-on approach. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Commerce from Keio University.
Kyoko is a Senior Manager for CDP Worldwide-Japan, engaging with financial institutions to promote the transition to a decarbonized, climate-resilient economy.
Before assuming her current role in January 2018, she worked for the investment management industry with performing various positions, including Senior ESG Analyst at T&D Asset Management Co., Ltd., Co-Head of Credit Research at BNP Paribas Securities (Japan) Limited and Senior Associate Director at Deutsche Securities Limited. She made a strong showing in analyzing Japanese financial sector.
She holds Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Certified Member Analyst of the Securities Analysts Association of Japan (CMA) and 1st grade Certified Skilled Professional of Financial Planning.
Hiroko Oda is Chief Specialist of domestic Private Asset Investment Officer in Financial Solutions Department of Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance.
She has been in charge of investment to domestic PE fund, co-investment since 2004.
She joined Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance in 1991, she was in charge of corporate loan, domestic public equity research analyst for food, healthcare, chemistry sector.

Chisa has 20 years of experience in research and problem solving related to global agriculture trade, policy, investment and market development. She is the Managing Director of Meros Consulting, which she founded in 2016 together with three partners in order to help international and Japanese players build sustainable and innovative businesses along the global ag-food supply chain. Before launching Meros, she was a senior consultant at Promar Consulting, where she directed the government research and trade policy program. Chisa’s recent work includes strategic research on the potential impact new agriculture funds could have on the Japanese agriculture industry, advising a government-academic initiative to enhance digitalization in agriculture and the food value chain, as well as participating as a committee member for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries’ advisory panel on ESG and sustainable investing in agriculture and food. Chisa is fascinated with the complex relationship between people, environment, natural resources, history, food culture and land use and how these relationships impact businesses and government policies. She has a master’s degree in agricultural economics from the University of Tokyo ’s Graduate School of Agricultural and Life Sciences. A native Japanese speaker and fluent in English.
Kenjiro Okazaki is General Manager, Responsible Investment Department at Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company.
He has spent his entire career with Dai-ichi Life, starting in 1994. In his most recent role, he was General Manager of the Global Fixed Income Investment Department.
He has also worked in International Life Insurance Business Unit and Equity Investment Department, and spent a year as a trainee at a major US accounting firm.
He earned Bachelor of Commerce in Keio University, has passed US CPA exam and also is a Chartered Member of the Security Analyst Association of Japan.
Kaoru Onishi is General Manager and Head of Foreign Equity & Alternative Investment Department of Nissay Asset Management. She is responsible for a wide range of alternative investment for Nippon Life. She has been with Nippon life since 1996, and she has been responsible for alternative fields including ramping up Nippon Life’s international private equity fund investment program since 2003.
Prior to her current role, she leads manager selection including private equity and infrastructure investment both for Nippon Life and third party clients. In most recent role, she has focused on introducing and starting impact investment programs.
Yasuhiro Ono is a Director with Stonepeak. Before joining Stonepeak, Yasuhiro was Head of Infrastructure Investments at Japan Post Bank where he helped establish the infrastructure program and was responsible for a multi-billion-dollar infrastructure portfolio of fund investments, co-investments, and debt investments across all infrastructure strategies globally. He was also a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Institutional Investing in Infrastructure.
Prior to Japan Post Bank, Yasuhrio worked at Mitsubishi Corporation for almost fifteen years where he was heavily involved with strategic investments and business development globally.
Yasuhiro received an engineering Ph.D. from the University of Tokyo focusing on infrastructure technology and mathematical modeling. He received a Master in Public Administration from Harvard University.
Jeff is a member of Northleaf's Investment Committees and oversees the origination, evaluation and monitoring of Northleaf’s private markets investments, with a focus on North American and Asian opportunities. Jeff also leads Northleaf’s investor relations and business development activities, working closely with existing and prospective investors and investment consultants to design, develop and monitor their private markets portfolios. Jeff serves on the advisory boards of several partnerships within Northleaf’s portfolio. Prior to joining Northleaf’s predecessor, TD Capital, in 2005, Jeff was a management consultant with McKinsey & Company where he specialized in corporate strategy, finance and organizational behaviour, advising companies in financial services and other sectors. Previously, Jeff was a corporate/securities lawyer with Stikeman Elliott in Toronto, and Hamada Matsumoto in Tokyo, where he advised clients on private equity, infrastructure, corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions transactions. Prior to that, Jeff worked with the United Nations Development Programme in New York and West Africa. Jeff received a B.A. (First Class Honours) from the University of British Columbia, an M.Phil. in International Relations from Oxford University and an LL.B. (Dean’s Honours List) from the Faculty of Law, University of Toronto.
Hideya Sadanaga heads Japan Post Bank’s nascent private equity investment program and is responsible for all aspects of its creation and construction. Prior to joining Japan Post Bank in January 2016, he spent most of his career at Nippon Life Insurance Company, where he was portfolio manager establishing and leading Nippon Life’s private equity operations out of its US subsidiary and also was Head of Product Development at Nissay Asset Management Co., the asset management subsidiary of Nippon Life just prior to joining Japan Post Bank, among other various roles he held there. He has a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of Tokyo, LL.M. from the University of Michigan Law School, has passed the New York Bar Exam and also is a Chartered Member of the Security Analysts Association of Japan.
Junichi Sakaguchi, CFA, is the Chief Responsible Investment Officer and a member of the Responsible Investment Committee of SMDAM. Prior to becoming Chief Responsible Officer in 2021, he was General Manager of the Asia Research Center at SMDAM (HK). He has 15 years of research experience at SMDAM, serving as Head of Corporate Research Group and a senior research analyst focusing on the machinery sector. He started his career at Mitsui Bank in 1988 and joined the former entity of SMDAM in 1990. Mr. Sakaguchi received a BA in economics from Keio University and an MBA from the University of Chicago.
Koji Someno is a Manager of Real Asset Fund Investment Division and Private Equity Fund Investment Division of Alternative Investment Department at Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company. Since joining Dai-ichi Life in 2017, he has been in charge of infrastructure investments and private equity investments. Prior to that, he spent about 13 years at Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking (MUTB), where he was involved in the investments in private equity, infrastructure, real asset and venture funds. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business and Commerce from Keio University.
Sugauchi Koji joined Osaka Shoko Shinkin Bank in 2016 as a head of investment. His responsibilities include alternative investment, equity and fixed income investments. Prior to the Osaka Shoko Shinkin Bank, he joined Dai-ichi Life in 1983. He worked as a credit analyst, an equity analyst and a fund manager at Dai-ichi Life, DIAM Asset Management and a merchant bank in Singapore. And he worked at Tokai Tokyo Financial Holdings as a General Manager of Foreign Company Research Department.
Katsumi Sugiura is Deputy General Manager of Corporate Finance, Division 3 in Development Bank of Japan. He has been working for DBJ longer than 25 years since he joined DBJ in 1999 and was mainly in charge of overseas infrastructure related projects and funds.
DBJ comes up with fifth medium-term business plan promoting the GRIT Strategy (Green, Resilience, Innovation, and Transition) for realizing sustainable societies by collaborating with private financial institutions and utilizing our integrated investments and loans.
Based on this business plan, he is currently focusing on the investment into advanced Agriculture and Food related funds and projects outside of Japan so that DBJ will be able to contribute revitalization of domestic agriculture and food sectors.
DBJ just started Agriculture and Food business since 2020 but has already invested in four Agriculture and Food related Funds globally in total and will continuously accumulate the advanced knowledge throughout the investment activities.

Sakae became the Representative Director and CEO of SIP full time in July 2019. Prior to making this career shift to the social sector, he led growth and value creation efforts at KKR portfolio companies as the Managing Director of KKR Capstone, supported clients improve performance as a Partner of McKinsey & Company, served pharmaceutical companies grow sales at ZS Associates, provided innovative transaction platform for the air cargo industry at Global Freight Exchange, and led the on-line sales department at Gateway Japan. He holds a PhD in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology, and a BA from Reed College.
Mr. Takata is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Tokyo University of Science Innovation Capital. Prior to forming Tokyo University of Science Innovation Capital, Mr. Takata was a member of the Board of Directors of TUS Business Holdings (currently Tokyo University of Science Investment Management) and a Senior Portfolio Manager at Tokyo University of Science. Before joining Tokyo University of Science, Mr. Takata worked at the Dai-ichi Mutual Life Insurance Company (currently The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Company, Limited), Mizuho Corporate Bank, Ltd (currently Mizuho Bank, Ltd.), Mountain Capital Advisors (currently The Carlyle Group) and The Norinchukin Bank for M&A finance, venture investment, private equity investment, and credit investment in New York and Tokyo. Mr. Takata holds a B.A. in Economics from Keio University, a Master's Degree in Management of Technology from Tokyo University of Science(Outstanding Student Award), and has completed the Executive Education Leadership Program at the Said Business School, University of Oxford.
After engaging in Economic and Commercial Section in Argentine Embassy in Japan, Ms. Takatsuka has worked for Shinsei Bank Group since 2004 at principal investment area, including non-performing loan investment, securitization, real-estate non-recourse loan, venture investment, PE/RE fund investment. In 2017, she setup the so-called “Childcare Support Fund”, which was the first impact investment fund in the banking sector in Japan. In 2019, she also setup the second impact investment fund “Hataraku (WORK) Fund”. She is the Advisor to the Council of Advisors in an experimental proof project in GSG Japan Impact Investment Task Force, the Advisor to the Council of Advisors in an experimental proof project in Cabinet Office and the Advisor to the Study Group of Impact Investment by Japan in Financial Services Agency and GSG Japan Impact Investment Task Force. She was awarded “Woman of the Year 2019 ” by Nikkei Woman.
Shunsuke Tanahashi is Head of Partners Group's Tokyo office and Head of Partners Group Japan Kabushiki Kaisha, Client Solutions for Japan as part of the Asian Client Solutions business unit. He was a member of Expert Group Member of PRI in 2005, and was chairing PE Working Group from 2013 to 2019, and an advisory board member under PRI Japan network. He has 24 years of industry experience. Prior to joining Partners Group, he was CEO of Ark Totan Alternative, and worked for Ant Capital, Goldman Sachs Asset Management Tokyo, Mitsubishi UFJ Trust Bank, and Research Institute for Pensions and Policies on Aging (RIPPA). He holds an MBA from the University of Michigan and a bachelor's degree from Tokyo University.
In April 2021, Sumitomo Life established a team to manage and enhance responsible investment activities across all asset classes, and Junichi Tanaka was appointed as the team's general manager. Since then, his team has been expanding the scope of sustainable investment and striving to be more effective in achieving the SDGs. He became an executive advisor in April 2023, and continues to actively promote responsible investment for all of Sumitomo Life's assets.
Prior to his current role, he was a general manager in charge of stewardship activities and held more than 300 dialogues with many companies in five years. Prior to this position, he served as chief representative in the New York office for 3 years.
Since joining Sumitomo Life in 1886, he has about 20 years of experience in investment-related fields. He has also held managerial positions ; responsibilities in various business management departments, including business planning, legal, risk management, international business.
He holds an LL.M. from Duke University, School of Law and a BA from the University of Tokyo, Faculty of Law. He is a member of the New York State Bar.
Wakako Taniguchi is a Senior Consultant at the Consulting Division of Russell Investments Japan.
Prior to joining Russell Investments in 2010, she worked for Daiwa Institute of Research and Daiwa Fund Consulting as a consultant for pension fund clients. From 2006-2007, she was a visiting scholar in insurance and risk management at Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
Wakako has more than 20 years of experience in investment consulting for institutional investors, and her scope of advice ranges from pension fund governance, asset allocation, manager structure, and manager selection and monitoring, to risk management and responsible investing.
She received a Ph.D. in Business Administration and MBA from University of Tsukuba and BA in Economics from The University of Tokyo.

Jun Tsusaka is a Founding Partner, CEO and CIO of Nippon Sangyo Suishin Kiko Ltd. (NSSK), an investment firm focused on Japanʼ s middle market. He is also Chairman of the Firm’s ESG, Diversity and Inclusion Committee. NSSK currently manages three investment funds (approximately USD700 million) on behalf of government and private sector pension plans, institutional investors, endowments and family offices. Prior to Founding NSSK, from 2006, Jun Tsusaka was a Global Partner, Investment Committee Member and Partner Selection Committee Member for TPG Capital and was responsible for establishing and building up the Japan investment and operating team, which make up the core of NSSK today. Jun Tsusaka is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Business School and has an Advanced Management Certificate in Innovation and Entrepreneurship from MIT. Anis Uzzaman, Ph.D. is the Founder and CEO of Pegasus Tech Ventures. With over US$2.0 billion under Pegasus Tech Ventures’ management, Anis is responsible for overall global investments and operations of the firm. Karthik Varada is a Project Researcher at the University of Tokyo, focused on ESG and climate-tech investments. Previously, Karthik was the founding member of Asia Women Impact Fund, a $100m impact investing fund at the Sasakawa Peace Foundation. Karthik has advised several venture capital funds and startups on impact investing and impact management. Karthik holds a PhD from the University of Tokyo, focused on ESG investing and gender diversity. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Tokyo and a bachelor’s in engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad.

Kota Yasumura, Senior Director, Private Sector Investment Finance Division1, Private Sector Partnership and Finance Department, Japan International Cooperation Agency(JICA). Kota is responsible for originating new projects through Private Sector Finance Operation in Asia. He has 19-year experiences in international development finance including secondment to Asian Development Bank(ADB).
